Description
SHORT LET Perfect Top floor central studio on a unique central City Island.

Tucked away on the top floor, Studio Iris wonderfully secluded. Since Roman times the Thames has been called the Isis here. You can see east over Folly Bridge to the stretch of the river that winds past Christchurch Meadows. The sun floods in all day from the south facing window. Hard as it might be to believe, the reflected light from the river still dances on the ceiling here, four storeys up from the water.

The bathroom is just outside the studio door. Brand new, bright and with a strong shower, it is shared with one other studio. The kitchen is equipped with stainless steel worktop, electric hobs, full-sized undercounter fridge, combination convection oven/microwave/grill and the elegant necessities of city living for two. There is superfast fibre optic broadband, a flatscreen TV/DVD and hairdryer. The latest in ventilation systems removes cooking smells, steam and Oxford's notorious damp climate from the apartment replacing them with fresh, warmed air from above the trees at a rate of 180 cubic metres per hour. Chairs and tables by the river allow guests to watch the canoes, punts, narrow boats, barges and university rowing crews at play.

The house is an Oxford landmark and has been beautifully restored by a potter and a photographer. They describe it as 'eco chic'. Guests can enjoy their collection of modern art and ceramics. A crenellated Georgian tower standing in the River Thames at the point of the original 900 AD oxen ford, it conjures all the romance of the city. This is the spot where Alice in Wonderland was invented by Lewis Carroll. On Folly Bridge, the 13th century philosopher and alchemist Roger Bacon had a tower. From the roof, the River Thames and the dreaming spires of the city spread out before you. Only five minutes walk from the top of the High Street, the colleges and shops, Folly Bridge House lets you be in the bright lights in a moment and yet return to the tranquillity of the river.
