LOCAL INFORMATION
Binsey is a tiny agricultural hamlet lying on the banks of the Thames only one and a half miles from Oxford city centre and the railway and bus stations. Green fields surround the house. There is a working farm rearing cattle, and an excellent pub, The Perch, providing very good food. A stone's throw from the house is the famous pick-your-own fruit farm. Beyond the river lies Port Meadow, ancient common land still used for grazing horses, ponies and cattle. At the bottom of the lane, a mile away, is the newly opened Waitrose store. A walk down the Thames towpath leads to central Oxford, or across Port Meadow to lively Jericho with its many restaurants and bars. Everyone in Oxford wants to live in Binsey, but there are only 10 houses and all, except this one, belong to Christ Church.

OUTSIDE SPACE
Beautiful south facing walled and fenced garden full of highly scented old-fashioned roses, irises and lavender. A clair-voyee gives a view of the big field Great Leys after which the house is named. There is a Wisteria covered pergola with seats and tables. Cars may be parked in the lane at the side of the property.

LOCAL AUTHORITY AND SERVICES
Oxford City Council. Tax band G.
